Water flow test. A water flow test is a way to measure the water supply available at a building site, usually for the purposes of installing a water based fire protection system (fire sprinkler system).
How much does a water flow test cost?
Services Available Independent of a General Home Inspection
Wood Destroying Insect Report (FHA, HUD, VA) $125
Well Flow Test (Yield) $200
Combined Septic and Well Flow Test $210
Well Disinfection, Pump-Out, Water Quality Sample $450
Electromagnetic Radiation Test per quote
The flow testing procedure should be conducted, as follows:
Position one personnel at the test hydrant, and one at the flow hydrant.
Attach gauge to test hydrant.
Open hydrant; record static pressure reading.
Record outlet coefficient size of flow hydrant.
Attach pitot gauge to flow hydrant.
How are hydrants flow tested?
Hydrant flow tests are conducted to determine water availability in planning for firefighting activities, fire sprinkler systems or domestic water demand. The tests are also useful in determining the general condition of the water distribution system by detecting closed valves or wall deposits.
What is a good flow rate for a water well?
The Water Well Board suggests that a minimum water supply capacity for domestic internal household use should be at least 600 gallons of water within a twohour period once each day. This is equivalent to a flow rate of 5 gallons per minute (gpm) for two hours.
